I believe that we should learn about the things that don't normally happen here were we live. We should learn about different cultures and different ways of life. In other words, we need to become culturally aware. Sometimes it is easy to forget that America is only one place in the world, and that there are many varieties of people out there. It is foolish to assume that the way Americans live is common amongst the world, for we are very priviledged when it comes to a global perspective.
I am really interested in learning about foreign cultures, with values and beliefs different than my own. It is quite fascinating just to think about how many varied ways man has developed on how to live. If these ways became more familiar to the people of our society, I think that we would have a much better understanding of the world today.

First Day Poem
First Day
Worried students buzzing about
The start of their new journey
Confusion of the new places and new faces
Where to go and what to do - all a mystery
I am amongest these people
Uncertain about my new surroundings
Feeling small and lost
In a place filled with people who know the way
But I know that in this familiar place,
I have many new experiences ahead of me
New friends to last forever
While still having the old ones
Trying different things
And finding passions that I will learn to love
Gaining new knowledge
And lessons that I will never forget
The place that I now find to be a puzzle
Will soon become a place of enjoyment
Where memories will be made
This is the start of a brand new era of my life
The first day.
